How to make Basbousa

Basbous is popular in the Middle East as well as the countries along the Eastern mediterranean  shores.The cake itself is not too sweet but it is Soaked with a Syrup. It is very Easy to Prepare and the best thing I like about it is that you can make it ahead and serve it as an fuss-dessert.I  Prefer to prepare the batter dery ahead then bake it just before the guest arrive.This ensures that get the smell of freshly baked basbousa filling the house.Do this if your guests will be staying for a few hours as the basbousa needs to cool down before removing from the baking pan.I  have another great recipe to basbousa that we hope to share with you in the future.

  • Egg 11 pcs
  • Sugar-.500 gm
  • yogurt-.250 gm
  • Coconut Grated-.200 gm
  • Wheat flour-500 gm
  • Baking Powder-35gm
  • Orange Zest- 1 pcs
  • Vanilla flavor – 1 tsp
  • Saffron Color- 1tsp
  • Almond Slice- .250 gm

Sugar Syrup

  • Sugar – 1 kg
  • Water-750 gm
  • orange – 1 skin
  • Lemon -1 skin
  • Anis Star-2 pcs
  • Boiled 3o minutes
  • Method

To make a Basbous Need  to Mix Sugar , flour,Coconut,Orange Zest,Baking Powder Mix all together one by one then add Egg ,Yogurt ,vanilla flavor,saffron color mix all and put in Aluminum Tray .make sure brush try with butter and apply in tray nicely and add Almond slice in the top. Make preheat oven 180 deg temp 25 minute baking and remove and apply Sugar syrup and keep it for 1 hours rest.
